In 1976, the visionary Allahyarham Awg Hj Mahmood was the first man in Brunei Darussalam who manufacture fiberglass boats. He established Perusahaan Seri Melati with the objective of providing the best fiberglass boats in the country to the general public, booming industrial sectors, and government stakeholders who need his expertise.
Originally operating from his makeshift workshop at his humble home in Kampong Sengkarai, he then relocated operations to Kuala Tutong after obtaining a good land facility through His Majesty's government. PSM's new site, located near the estuary of the Tutong River, where it meets the South China Sea, was ideal for testing any watercraft that it builds. PSM began to explore innovative approaches to design the best boats for the surrounding environ by extensive trails, research, and feedback from local fisherman, boat owners, and government agencies.
With ever growing demand for PSM's quality work with fiberglass boats, Hj Abd Rashid bin Hj Mahmood launched the 'AMIRA' brand of boats. Following the footsteps of his late father Allahyarham Awg Hj Mahmood, he expanded PSM's fiberglass boat fabrication to other fiberglass applications in the building and development business, with the same passion for introducing new techniques and ideas.
To this day, Perusahaan Seri Melati still holds steadfast in its goals and mission, which is to provide the highest quality work and adding value to the local community.
